Petty traders of agricultural produce are mainly women. As payment system is going digital, they require support to be able to effectively attend to their numerous customers. Use of POS is difficult because these women cannot easily assess POS machine from the banks, in the situation whereby they managed to get, charging the device for use is problem. There other options like agent banking, USSD etc. CIA-GED is developing a framework to pilot these digital services and see how these women can be further supported in their petty trading in rural areas.
